One of the most highly anticipated events at Japan Society is happening next Wednesday. This year's Japan Society Sake Tasting features 12 brewers from Japan and 34 different types of sake.
Think about it, for a mere $35, you can drink 17 ounces of sake (34 x 0.5oz.), which is just about a bottle of sake. If you want, you can go for another round and drink two bottles. Mind you, these sakes are really premium, including "Kakunko", which goes about $200 at retail for a bottle. It's worth every penny, and I hope many of you come.
This year's topic is Amazing Leverage: The Final Steps of Sake-Brewing. Not many people know or think too much about the final steps of the sake making process, but these steps are as important as choosing rice, or having a good brew master. As always, sake genius John Gauntner will speak extensively on the subject, which is then followed by the sake tasting (the best part).
Details can be found on the Japan Society website.
