I'm very sorry to do this folks, but I've met my match today and have been forced to call in a sick day for Happy Hour. I try to keep Happy Hour all-natural and preservative-free, and I do this by keeping the posts as fresh and relevant as possible by writing the columns within the same week of posting--and often the very same day. Of course one of the pitfalls of this ethos is that you remain at the whim of the moment's circumstance.

For the record I really really really really tried to fight it until the end but ultimately realized I wouldn't be able to deliver a quality post for today. And as I've learned from many episodes of Top Chef, if you're not happy with the product, don't serve it.
