Sake
Here's something my mama sent me recently- three different kinds of salad dressing that come in these really cute, stout, hexagon-shaped glass bottles. No doubt they were on sale at Mitsuwa or something (Hideko is the craziest bargain shopper ever, and she also lives at Mitsuwa).

The dressings are from Japan, from a brand called "Asadaya". She sent me plum, soy and sesame flavors.

How cute are they? They sort of remind me of bottles of balsamic vinegar from Italy.

I love this label design- clean, minimal, and the English on it adds character and is not so annoying (too often, Japanese companies use English to try to be cool, which often fails because it is nonsensical).

I am my mother's daughter: we both suffer from Packaging Whore Syndrome. I gave two away to friends who equally suffer from this wallet-debilitating disease.

  • ha, you know what’s funny is that i actually let them choose- and when Fumiko picked sesame, i said “you are so predictable”. i knew she was going to choose sesame- it’s one of those mundane preferences that only your closest friends know about you.

i would have chosen plum, just because it piqued my interested, but Yamahomo snagged that. that bitch.
