Yoko's Kitchen

Yoko has since moved out of her little studio in Shimokitazawa, but I remember taking this picture cause her stovetop cracked me up. ONE BURNER!!! I mean, really, why would anyone need more than that, right? Pretty inconceivable for Americans.

Where would Hideko's precious coffee machine go? This here picture captures the entire width of her kitchen counter. That little dip behind the Brita is what we would call a "sink." To say apartments in Tokyo are tiny is an understatement.

Thank you for your hospitality, Yoko! We're gonna find you + Washi an apartment in OAK with a kitchen of GARGANTUAN AMERICAN PROPORTIONS! HELLYESSS! <3!

  • Oh, I miss my old kitchen! I am so happy you captured it! Yes, everything is so tiny in Japan, I can't wait to revert to the wasteful lifestyle of an American when I move back next year.
