Anniversary Sale
Bouley will name his new Japanese restaurant in New York, "Brushstroke". I'm not sure if this is an art historical reference, or one of Japanese calligraphy, but in any case, it's just plain bad. The 80s revival has gone too far.

David, here are some other suggestions:
- Zen Utopia
- Chopsticks and Knives
- Buddha's Delight
- Namaste
- The Art of the Soy Bean
- Teriyaki on Rice
- Uncle Ben's Express

In honor of this, I am starting a new tag "Brushstroke", which will chronicle bad names of restaurants (which would have included Caviar and Bananas, French Laundry and Ninja). Please feel free to submit your entries to umamimart@gmail.com

  • Ohhhh man. This is BAD. Seriously, it conjures up images of Katherine Hepburn taping her eyelids, circa 1944’s “oriental” film Dragon Seed.
