Mars Shinshu has once again graced us with a stellar annual limited single malt. Where the 2020 edition was full of marshmallow and chocolate subtlety, this new expression is bright, lively, and explosive.
The nose on this whisky is pure romance. Get fresh watermelon, champagne, and intensely aromatic rose petals. The palate is laden with powdered sugar, key-lime cookie, a touch of bright peat, and a surprising spearmint cameo on the finish.
We imagine this would be great with aromatic and tart desserts. Give this whisky a minute or two to air out in your glass as well! A drop of water will also bring out the lush fruits.
Mars Shinshu Distillery has the highest altitude of all the distilleries in Japan. Situated in Nagano (the Japanese Alps, where the newest season of Terrace House is filmed) at an elevation of over 2600 feet, the temperature drops to 5°F. With fresh, ample snowfall, Mars Shinshu Distillery is situated in an ideal place for whisky production.
