This single malt uses less peaty malt than Yoichi Single Malt, and is distilled in a pot still heated by indirect steam – all lending to the mild fruitiness with dry hints of vanilla, with strong influences from the Sherry cask.
Nikka was founded close to the sea in Hokkaido in 1934 after Masataka Taketsuru spent time in Scotland to learn the art of making whisky. Miyagikyo distillery is Nikka’s second distillery in Sendai built in 1969.
