Sake + Shochu Gumi

A collector's preview of what's to come with Akkeshi's inaugural single malt release in 2020, this 'New Born' whisky was released in four parts, all composing only one thousand 200ml bottles of single malt. Distilled from a combination of both malted barley and grain, We get notes of red apple, creamy milk chocolate, poppyseed, Saltwater Taffy, as Paprika and caraway linger on the palate. 

Akkeshi Distillery is fairly new to the whisky scene and has made waves with their highly limited small format new-make releases. They have moved away from imported ingredients, sourcing locally as much as possible. They use 100% locally grown peat in their single malts and as much local barley as they can. The distillery itself is also constructed to emulate the climate and terroir of Islay.
