Travel into the wild with these meticulously designed furoshiki (wrapping cloth) by artist duo Takeshi Matsunaga and Chie Takai of Kata Kata. Because of its large size, this furoshiki works great as a wrapping cloth, bag, tablecloth, or hang these special pieces on your walls for festive animal-themed decorations.

Both katazome and chusen methods are used to create this furoshiki. Katazome is a complicated stenciling and printing process involving natural materials such as persimmon juice, seaweed, water, and wind. Chusen is a Meiji-era technique involving hand-dying each furoshiki to produce varied and unique results. Check out this blog post on Hello! Good Morning! for rad behind-the-scenes photos at Kata Kata HQ!

"I have a deeply irrational fear of snakes and alligators that stems from childhood. It's silly really – I mean, this crocodile by Kata Kata is so lovable right?? The color combos of all of these furoshiki are so great – in this one, the deep camo green, light blue, and orange accents are brilliant. With the little birds chillin' on its teeth, how harmful could these crocs really be?" - Kayoko

Please note: colors may run during the first couple of washes, so be sure to wash separately with cold water to avoid color bleeding.
