Shochu-heads are sure to recognize the iconic label for Kiroku, a long-held favorite among our staff and customers. We love this brand for its rich and luxurious texture and distinct subtle floral aroma. That's why we're so excited to share this limited seasonal release with you: Kiroku Muroka!
Previously available only in Japan until this autumn, this fresh expression was bottled in Winter 2020 and is only lightly filtered to preserve all of the awesome oils, flecks, and volatiles which sing in the glass and lap against the edges. This is also made with certified organic potatoes, a badge of honor not often seen on shochu available in the states.
Removing the paper and popping the top, we were overwhelmed with the aroma of flesh flowers: think honeysuckle, jasmine, lavender. After pouring the shochu and letting it air out a bit, the sweetest grain aroma emerges, like Whoppers and sweet corn, while the florality takes a break. First sips offer the signature Kiroku creme brulee with an unmistakable fresh quality which is very easy to drink.
Try this mizuwari (with water), oyuwari (with hot water), or with soda. Any way you serve this will reveal more hidden delights from this darling libation.
As this is a seasonal release, we recommend you drink this while it is fresh; enjoy the experience of new releases while they are tasting new!
