Modern in design, this teapot is made by Morimasa, a pottery that is held in high regard for the exceptional quality of its deisho-ikomi (slurry casting) pieces. Yoshinori Isomura, the master of the kiln, was born into a cast pottery family, and has also trained in hand-thrown kyusu (teapots).
Made in Tokoname City, the home of one of the Six Old Kiln sites in Japan. A contemporary take on the traditional yokode no kyusu (side handle tea pot), this bulbous, stylish teapot has no glaze. This teapot is made of four individual parts: the body, spout, handle, and lid.
