Sake and Shochu Gumi

When Yoko lived in Tokyo, she would celebrate Friday nights at a small bar in Hatagaya called Saburo where the owner would line up all the bottles for the night on the bar. There, she'd order this umeshu on-the-rocks. Tart and sweet, with a floral aroma, this umeshu has everything you want after a long work week.

The local ume in Wakayama Prefecture, where the brewer is located, is called Nankobai and is prized throughout Japan. Nankobai are often gifted as souvenirs from the region.
