Kanten (agar or agar-agar) is a jelly-like substance, obtained from red algae. Since it is obtained from plants, it is a perfect vegan substitute for gelatin.
This kanten powder pack comes with 4 convenient pouches. Add a pouch to 2 cups of water and bring both to a boil, and return to a slow simmer and stir for 2 minutes. Add juice, matcha, other flavors, or keep it plain and pour into a kanten mold.
Perfect for cubes that go into coffee jelly and anmitsu, or for filling an ornate jelly mold.
