10 YEAR MATSURI

This August we are turning TEN YEARS OLD!!! It's hard to believe that we started our shop right smack in the middle of a recession, in downtown Oakland – a shop built on a food blog dream, a lil ambition, and our kickass community who kept coming back to support us. We love you all from the bottom of our hearts!

Having never worked in the industry, we didn't know anything about running a small business, let alone a retail store! But here we are, ten years strong, in a new location, with a wall full of sake and spirits, a bar for tastings and cocktails, still proudly showcasing barware and glassware from Japan, just like how it all started in 2012. 

Matsuri is our biggest party of the year, and this will be our most epic in the history of Umami Mart Matsuris. After a two year Covid hiatus, we can't wait to party with all of you! We'll be joined but our favorite food + drink + music friends from around the Bay – and beyond! Banzai!
