Sake and Shochu Gumi

Satsuma Shochu is a Geographical Indication granted to otsu-rui (single-distilled) shochus made in Kagoshima prefecture using local volcanic-soil grown sweet potatoes, and represents a huge array of different imo (sweet potato) in a plethora of styles. We love this giant category and are pleased to introduce yet-another heavy hitter onto our shelves: Goro.

Perfect for fans of Satoh Kuro and Heihachiro, Goro is bold, in-your-face imo goodness. The aroma is dense, bright, and herbal at the same time. We get notes of ripe banana, custard, and turnip cake – complex, deep, savory, and rich.

The palate is bodacious, thick, and layered. Enjoy notes of pistachio, blueberry, powdered sugar, and egg tart. This shochu is all kinds of rich, yet the mouthfeel is soft due to the precious Sanoura "firefly" spring water used in its production. Get the most out of this deeply satisfying shochu by drinking it oyuwari (cut with hot water) while you ride out winter's last bitter chill.
