This is a Shochu Gumi selection! It was featured in December 2020 "Stay Home With Shochu".
We've died and gone to shochu heaven! We've finally gotten our hands on the first isshobin (1.8L bottle) bottlings of shochu to grace our shores. Previously only available for sake, these large bottle formats contain 2.5 standard bottles worth of shochu and are perfect for keeping around for entertaining, sharing with large groups, or just to have a trusty bottle of shochu around you don't have to worry about checking the levels on so often.
Kayoko first had this at Ippuku in Berkeley, so imagine that you’re at a rowdy izakaya having grilled meats with 10 of your friends or colleagues. The fruity nose reminds us of fermented pineapples and tropical fruit. It’s bright and funky and great mixed with soda and a spritz of lime. Food pairings run the gamut, from fries to kimchi and pickles, to tonkatsu.
