Tobanjan is the Japanese word for doubanjiang, a fermented paste made from broad beans and chilis, used primarily in China's Sichuan cuisine. This version brings a nice balance of heat and earthiness to dishes like mapo tofu and Japanify's Ebi Chili, Nikumiso Udon, and Gingery Nasu + Pork Stir Fry. Plus, it does not contain any MSG!
