Sake and Shochu Gumi

Grown in the Grand Cru (special grade) fields, known for their good soil and exposure to sunlight, as well as the Yamada Nishiki rice carefully nurtured in their own rice paddies, and finished with the techniques developed over their 160 years of history.

For this deluxe shochu, Nishi Shuzo uses locally-grown Kogane Sengan sweet potatoes that have been aging for about a month after it was dug up (normally, sweet potato shochu is made immediately after harvesting to maintain freshness). This process gives the shochu distinctive lychee and grappa-like aromas.

Distilled in 2021 and bottled in 2022, get a lush texture, with bright notes of clay and chocolate. We love this on the rocks, oyuwari, and with club soda.
