Thursday, October 21, 2021
$50.00
If you’ve ever wanted to learn the differences between a nama, junmai, and daiginjo sakes, now is your chance! This course is for sake beginners and enthusiasts alike!
Sake is Japan’s brewed beverage. Made from rice, water, yeast and koji (mold), sake typically has an ABV of 15% (slightly above wine). Should sake be enjoyed cold or warm? Can it be paired this with pizza or pasta? Understanding different sake types, temperature, and vessels is the key to enjoying sake.
Join Yoko Kumano, Kikizakeshi (Sake Sommelier) and Co-Founder of Umami Mart at the Umami Mart Bar in Oakland for an event focusing on sake, Japan's brewed beverage. We will go over: history of sake, what sake is, how is it made, and sake types. We will also focus on serving suggestions, pairing, and tasting basics including detecting aroma, color, and taste.
