Father's Day June 18

Just in time for Kimoto and Yamahai season at Umami Mart (Kimoto and Yamahai season is year-round, though, who are we kidding?), the Tamagawa Red Label line has come screaming onto our shelves. Nama-heads, minimal-intervention-heads, and general fans of serious acidity rejoice!

Part of their Spontaneous Fermentation line, this sake boasts a honeyed, maple-sweet aroma and a lush, purple palate of ripe plum, bright nectarine, cola, honeysuckle, and a hint of shoyu. This brew forgoes pasteurization, dilution, and charcoal filtering, so admire the golden hue and dancing legs in your glass.

This genshu clocks in at just under 21% ABV, so grab a friend to help you polish this off quickly! The brewery boasts a range of sakes that age gracefully after opening, but we found this one was best enjoyed in a sitting. This is the perfect sake for fans of Kaze no Mori and Funaguchi Kunko. We want to drink this with piping hot tonkatsu every day.
