Our friend Lou Bustamante recently released this great cocktail book that we're excited to carry in our shop. Lou is a spirits professional who's worked in almost every aspect of the industry – bartending, working in a distillery, developing recipes and products, teaching cocktail classes, and more. He's also a published writer – covering the spirits and cocktails world for publications like the San Francisco Chronicle, Tasting Table, and Wine and Spirits. And of course, he's the author of this book!

The Complete Cocktail Manual: 285 Tips, Tricks & Recipes was written with the United States Bartenders’ Guild (USBG), a network of professionals from 70 cities across the U.S. Assembling the vast knowledge of all these cocktail experts, The Complete Cocktail Manual is chock full of fascinating cocktail history, advice on stocking your bar, and other useful information that will make it your go-to practical guide whenever you're in the mood to shake up or stir yourself a drink.



Because we're so stoked about Lou's latest accomplishment, we're hosting a free in-store event at Umami Mart in celebration of The Complete Cocktail Manual. This Sunday from 5-6:30 p.m., Lou will be here at Umami Mart, joined by Ramen Shop bartender Chris Lane, to demonstrate and explain tips, tools, and techniques on making great cocktails. You'll learn all about barspoons, strainers, and shakers, in particular. This is going to be a fun and informative event, so if you've found yourself feeling unsure of yourself while making drinks or just want a bit more guidance to improve your skills, you'll want to be here. And don't forget to get a copy of The Complete Cocktail Manual and have Lou sign it!
