Upcoming Event: A Pop-Up Dinner with JICCA from Tokyo (OAK)
This event is SOLD OUT!
Umami Mart + Ordinaire + Selection Massale welcomes
JICCA from Tokyo!
We are so happy to present a night of spectacular food, wine and FUN (!) with our friend Tori-chan of JICCA (pronounced gi-kkah), visiting Oakland from Japan. Opened in 2013 in Tokyo, JICCA is Tori-chan's cooking playground serving exciting drinks, creative small bites and comforting dishes, using local ingredients and fresh produce. Tori-chan invites guests into her open kitchen; chatting whilst cooking, sipping wine and munching away. This is what happened when Yoko and I went to JICCA earlier this year -- we ended up staying all night! JICCA is a cozy, enchanting restaurant that should not be missed for anyone visiting Tokyo.
But until that chance, JICCA is coming to Ordinaire in Oakland for one night only! Come and join us on Tuesday 6/17, at either 5:30pm or 8pm to enjoy a 3-course meal cooked by Tori-chan; and of course, the wine shall floweth. A glass of sparkling wine is included in the ticket price, and Cory of Selection Massale will guide you through a special list of Selection Massale glasses and bottles.
Tori-chan will no doubt bring the magic of JICCA to Ordinaire, with her effortless charm and delicious cooking. Get excited! We look forward to seeing you on the 17th.

About JICCA: Jicca opened in Nishihara, Shibuya, Tokyo in August 2013. It is a place to enjoy comfortable home-cooked meals and natural, biodynamic wines that are lighter in taste and texture. Jicca has a carefree air, like going to a friend's house for a good meal.
About ORDINAIRE: Open since August 2013, Ordinaire is a wine shop and wine bar inspired by the bar à vins of Paris. We believe wine is an agricultural product, a catalyst for conversation, and a way to bring pleasure into our everyday lives. We sell bottles to go as well as glasses and bottles for drinking here, with friends and family.
About SELECTION MASSALE: Selection Massale started in 2010 when Guilhaume Gerard and Cory Cartwright left San Francisco natural wine bar Terroir to begin importing small production natural and traditional wines into the Bay. They currently bring in wines from France, Swabia and Italy to their small warehouse in San Leandro.
