Sake and Shochu Gumi

Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely holiday season with plenty of love, laughter, and phenomenal food + drinks! Now it's time to unwind and be lazy at home. Try some of our teas to detox and indulge in maximum coziness (with plenty of health benefits!).

MUGICHA
Barley is full of fiber and antioxidants. It can also help relieve stomach cramps, heartburn, nausea, and constipation. Wait, there's more... it also helps improve blood circulation!

In Japan, mugi-cha (barley tea) is usually served cold, but it can be enjoyed warm as well. Brew a few quarts and save for later in the fridge for a better alternative to sugary juices.

HABUCHA
Habucha (aka cassia, senna, or sicklepod tea) is an herbal tea made from sicklepod seeds. It is believed to be beneficial for the eyes, good for digestion (note, many "Smooth Move" teas are Cassia/Senna. You'd be wise to drink in moderation), and other beneficial health properties. With a slight sweetness and roasted character, fans of hojicha may enjoy habucha.

OHAYO
Ohayo (good morning) is a Japanese tea blend we created in collaboration with Far Leaves Tea in Berkeley – a simple, subtle hojicha blended with cassia seed, and chicory root. Enjoy in the morning for an extra lift to start your day. Hojicha (roasted green tea) is a great source of antioxidants; cassia seed improves vision, while chicory root supports liver function.
