arhoj_posters1Our friend Anders Arhoj of Copenhagen-based Studio Arhoj created three minimalist poster designs exclusively for Umami Mart. Until now, they were in-store only items, but we're happy to announce you can now buy them online!

The Owl with Moon Poster takes its visual language from 1950s stylized illustrations, the owl is a traditional Japanese symbol of protection and luck, and the moon (or sun) is a classic way of referring to the Japanese flag and culture.

The Fisherman Poster is modern take on a traditional subject. The stark minimalist design poster is inspired by the hardworking fishermen of old feudal Japan, who wore coat-like blankets made of straw and large hats to endure the long hours by the water in the wet morning summer showers.

The Barware Poster pretty much sums up Umami Mart's core aesthetic and what we do best – offer great drink design and crafts. By eliminating all the details on these classic barware tools, you see the clean lines that make up their design.

All three posters are 20"x28" and were printed in West Oakland by Solstice Press with low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) soy-based inks on recycled paper made with 30% post consumer waste fiber. Sorry, frames are not included.

If you love these posters and can't get enough of Studio Arhoj, stay tuned! We'll be announcing an exciting Studio Arhoj/Umami Mart collaboration next month that you won't want to miss.
