Kitchen Revival: A Film-Inspired Cooking Show

June 28, 2011Sarah Nevada
A few months ago Umamimart readers and fans helped us accomplish our fundraising goal and we set forth to make a pilot for our movie-inspired cooking show. Kitchen Revival, hosted by chef Haley Simonds, is a 30-minute cooking show where every aspect of the show is inspired by a different movie each week. This means that the dish, the set design, the cinematography, the music, all of it, is pushed through the lens of the chosen film. Each week the movie changes, so each week the aesthetic changes; Chef Haley and our house band, The Tasty Licks, are the only constants. Inspired by Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Rowan & Martin’s Laugh In, Kitchen Revival brings some levity and entertainment to the kitchen, creating a cooking show like never before --fusing together our love of food, film and music, we’ve done just that. Our pilot episode, “Tippi’s Revenge,” is inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller, “The Birds.” Chef Haley whipped up a recipe that channeled the creepy tone and layered feeling of the original film, one that’s interesting, delicious and easy to prepare. Future episodes include: True Grit, Recipe: Le Beouf Wellington Bridesmaids, Recipe: Cupcakes Ghostbusters, Recipe: Marshmallows 3 ways (moon pie, whoopie pie, s’mores). The Apartment,Recipe: Traditional gin martinis and oysters Rockefeller Inside Job, Recipe: Blood Sausage Black Swan, Recipe: Black Squid Ink Risotto with Scallops Fatal Attraction, Recipe: Rabbit Ragu Point Break, Recipe: Meatball sandwiches Super 8, Recipe: Mystery Pot Pie The Kitchen Revival was created by Kiki Allgeier, Haley Simonds and Sarah Nevada Smith. So without further ado, please take a look at the trailer for Kitchen Revival. We hope you like it! Stay tuned for upcoming episodes. Thank you Umamimart for your support!
