Sake and Shochu Gumi

The renowned Forest Feast blog is about to become a book! Erin Gleeson, my good friend and long-time Umami Mart contributor, launched The Forest Feast after moving back to California from NYC a few years ago. Living deep in the woods in the Bay Area, Erin fused together her passion for photography, illustration, and fresh, simple vegetarian dishes on The Forest Feast, quickly amassing a wide following.

When Erin told me she wanted to turn her blog into a book, I knew she would find a publisher, no problem. Her aesthetic is whimsical and cheerful, and her recipes are as easy (and spectacular) as 1-2-3! She worked tirelessly on the book for the last year, brainstorming new recipes, testing them out, photographing, writing, painting. It wasn't an easy road (deadlines, deadlines, deadlines!) but all of her work is about to see the light of day -- the book will encompass ONE HUNDRED new recipes!

But of course one of the biggest challenges was finalizing the COVER. She finally nailed it!

I've known Erin since college and I've always been in awe at how she puts things together with such ease. The Forest Feast is no exception. Erin has been a big part of Umami Mart since the first days of her column Culinography, and we are so inspired by how far she has come in her career!

Pre-order your copy of the book on Amazon here. It's only $22 and will make a great (and a little belated) holiday gift! In the meantime, you can gift The Forest Feast recipe cards, created by us!

This book deserves to be in kitchens, along book shelves and on coffee tables across America. I can't wait for it to come out. I helped with some editing too!
