Umami Mart Gift Guide

Are you ready for THE GIFT OF FOOD, Part Deux??? After the initial benefit we hosted in San Francisco just two weeks ago (raising over $10,000!), Yoko and I have been working with some kickass folks down in LA to organize a similar event to raise money for Second Harvest Japan. We've gotta keep this going!

We've partnered up with Yamazaki Whisky yet again, and this time our little tea party for Japan will be at PRISM, a posh gallery on Sunset in West Hollywood. Eveleigh restaurant will provide the bites, desserts by Fruit+Flour, and of course, whisky highballs galore.

Personally, I'm extremely excited that Bay Area artist Clare Rojas' paintings adorn the walls of PRISM, where her show Inside Bleak is currently being exhibited. And guess what?? She will be designing a limited-edition t-shirts for our event. AWESOME! I have been an admirer of Clare's work for some time now, and we're so honored to have her support for Japan relief efforts.

100% of donations and ticket sales for this benefit will go to Second Harvest Japan, to efforts geared specifically towards quake and tsunami relief.

Yoko just talked to the Second Harvest Japan executive director Charles McJilton, who informed us that they are currently working on Phase Two of their quake and tsunami relief plan. This means setting up soup kitchens and food banks in the areas of northern Japan that have been hardest hit. 220,000 people are still living in shelters, and as they begin to transfer to longer-term housing, they first and foremost need to EAT! Let's give them the gift of food.

So please join Yoko and me next Tuesday night, and we'll watch the LA sunset together from PRISM's rooftop! The event starts at 6pm, then afterparty next door at Eveleigh's.

See you Tuesday!
