This winter, we debuted a new donabe to our line up. Made in Japan, the Shigaraki Shino Donabe is a glazed earthenware pot that can be used directly on the stove to cook hotpot, rice dishes, stews, and other comforting meals. We love the dramatic black finish with the subtle wash of gray-white glaze around the lid.

The photo above was taken by our very own Grace Suh, who made this delicious Salmon and Hijiki Rice dish, a recipe she found in Donabe, the donabe-focused cookbook by Naoko Takei Moore and Kyle Connaughton that we also carry at Umami Mart.
