Great UM Noodletown: Pho Ga Special @ Ao Sen (OAK)

DSCN9996 Pho ga dac biet is a special chicken noodle soup at Ao Sen, my favorite pho joint in the East Bay. They serve boiled chicken on the side, bone-in and skin-on, with a florescent orange ginger sauce. It is comforting when you are sick, and warming on dreary rain-filled days. The new Ao Sen location in Oakland is spacious with an airy tropical feel. I am obsessed with boiled chicken these days. This is excellent.

  • I haven’t been to Ao Sen for chicken pho but I’m a huge fan of their beef. For chicken I always go to Pho Ga Huong Que Cafe a few blocks away. They give you sprouts only, no other herbs but they also give you a little saucer of really good ginger and green onion sauce to dip chicken and noodles in. I still need to check out Ao Sen’s new location! So much fun to see oakland represented! Thanks!
