Sake and Shochu Gumi

We are so excited to finally announce a proper soiree for Erin Gleeson's new cookbook, The Forest Feast! The book was published in April and has been selling like hotcakes at our shops. It was far and wide the best seller for Mother's Day, as you can imagine, and it has been applauded by HuffPo, People mag, In Style, and more. Wow.

Erin has been a part of the Umami Mart family since 2007. As a food photographer in New York City, Erin contributed her gorgeous photographs to our blog in a column titled Culinography. A few years ago, Erin moved from New York with her husband to a little cabin in the woods in Northern California. Although she was devastated to leave the big city, she looked forward to her new adventure deep in the forest. Once settled, Erin drew inspiration from her surroundings and began The Forest Feast, a food blog that brought together her talents as artist, photographer, and cook. We're talking simple step-by-step (mostly) vegetarian recipes that are ideal for small bites and entertaining, in stunning layouts and her own fanciful watercolor designs.

Well, we knew it would not be long until the blog would become a wildly popular cookbook. It took Erin years to compile everything but the labor of love was well worth the wait. The book is incredible! It was a very special project that I was very lucky to be a part of (I helped edit the introduction).

Erin and I lived in Italy together over a decade ago, and she is one of the most talented artists I know. Not just as a photographer or watercolorists, but in life! She is the ultimate entertainer and can whip up a party of the year in just a few hours. She is an inspiration for all of us here at Umami Mart.

So please join us on Thursday 6/26 for a special evening with artist and cookbook writer Erin Gleeson. Food and drinks inspired by the book will be served!

  • Nice blog. Forest feast is really a wonderful idea to organize an event. It will give you dual benefits like while you enjoy the party, you can also feel the nature’s beauty and capture the moments in your camera to make it a life time memory. Photography is a art of creativity and you have done a good job and I think the party was great!
